Live Tracking
YES - LIVE TRACKING - and Done for under $500 per glider !
Glidingmaps.com has been working on a glider tracking system for the past few months. Recently the project has taken on some new life, and is now being tested in the Australian Grad Prix.
This initial release will be only one event. It already integrates:
- Real tracking - with 10 minute updates per glider
- Maps, Satellite, Terrain and even RASP (currently vertical acceleration) overlays
- Competition calculations for Speed and Distance for both speed tasks and AAT.
- User choice for order (you can choose best/worst speed or distance or even last update time)
- Start time calculations
- Task rendered, including size and shape of turn points
- Airfields displayed
- Pilot profiles
After the event is over we will implement replay of the old data.
The Future
It is our intention:
- To make tracking open to the public in late December.
- To keep it free for this season, and find funding in the future
- It would be nice to keep it free, if we can get funding from bodies or clubs
- To integrate SAR and Outlanding details
- To allow clubs to run competitions, or even just track the daily operations
It is very exciting technology, for further information please contact Scott Penrose
